HUMANITARIAN ROLES IN INSECURE ENVIRONMENTS

On January 13 and 14, 2005, CSRS co-sponsored a workshop in Washington, D.C. that examined the relationships between armed forces, US government agencies, non-governmental and international organizations involved in the delivery of humanitarian assistance in conflict zones.

Co-sponsored by California State University Monterey Bay, the Center for Humanitarian Cooperation, the International Medical Corps, the International Rescue Committee the Monterey Institute of International Studies and the United States Institute of Peace, the workshop brought representatives of these diverse communities together for a candid discussion on the possibilities for cooperation and collaboration, and the challenges that such possibilites entail.

The final workshop report covers the discussion and recommendations that the group came up with.
