September 13 -14, 2006 CSRS hosted an academic conference focused on the Navy's role in Stability, Security, Transition and Reconstruction operations at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

The conference was attended by academics and practicioners from the field, military personnel and civilians. It will culminate in a book focused on the Navy's role in stabilization and reconstruction activities, with chapters on the history of (U.S. and foreign) naval participation in stability and reconstruction operations, specific case studies, models, international law and ideas for the future. The book is expected to be published in mid-2007.
